One way to do it is to use a .NET-to-the-core solution like FactoryStudio from Tatsoft. With native protocol drivers built-in to FactoryStudio, and the ability to be an OPC Server AND client would make FactoryStudio a perfect solution.

I would like to discuss this further with you Carlos.

Hi Carlos, another option is to use the Cogent DataHub. It has OPC DA and UA client and server capabilities, a .NET API for connecting to your .NET application, and a Database feature that lets you connect to any SQL database via ODBC. Please see http://www.cogentdatahub.com for details.

Carlos, the easiest way to connect to Visual Studio.NET to an OPC Server is going to be to use a toolkit that handles all the details of the OPC communications for you and gives you simple .NET methods for read, write subscribe. I suggest you have a look at the OPC Data Client toolkit at http://www.softwaretoolbox.com/opcdataclient.html for examples, training videos, etc.
