Install the POSITAL 22mm Absolute Kit Encoder in easy 5 steps.

Our miniature multi-turn kit encoder for integrated motor feedback with a diameter of only 22 mm and a height of 23 mm (0.87”/0.9”) is the world’s smallest multi-turn kit. Thanks to its self-powered rotation counter there's no need for backup batteries or complex gear systems. POSITAL’s extremely trim 22 mm magnetic Kit Encoders are designed for builders of servomotors, feedback-controlled stepper motors, microdrives, miniature robots and other machines where high-precision position feedback is required and space is at a premium.

  • Kit Encoders: New Technologies for a Dynamically Changing Market

PostedMonday, November 23,2020 at 10:10 AM

Closed-loop motion control systems use feedback to ensure the precise positioning of mechanical
components. Self-contained position sensors, such as rotary encoders, can do a good job of providing this
feedback. However, in some cases it is technically and economically preferable to build the sensors into
the machinery being controlled, avoiding the cost and complexity of external measurement devices. This is
the domain of kit (or modular) encoders – position sensor elements designed to be installed inside motor
housings or other types of equipment to measure drive shaft rotation directly. This paper describes some of
the technologies used for kit encoders and outlines their relative advantages and limitations.

  • POSITAL Hollow Shaft Kit Encoders for Position Control Applications

PostedTuesday, October 22,2019 at 1:20 PM

POSITAL’s new hollow shaft kit encoders are designed for installations where it is useful to have a rotary position measuring element (encoder) fit around a machine’s shaft or axle. With their generous center openings (30 or 50 mm) and available multiturn measurement range, these are an excellent solution for many installations, including servomotors, feedback-controlled stepper motors and robot joints. These devices are based on an advanced capacitive measurement technology that combines accuracy, reasonable installation tolerances and rugged reliability. They also feature self-powered rotation counters that eliminate the need for backup batteries and significantly reduce maintenance costs.
