Where do you stand on the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) vs. Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) debate? Are the terms the same or do they describe something different? Should one be used over the other? Answer Answer The Question Write your answer here Submit Cancel Reset Sort By Default Ray Bachelor , Bachelor Controls, Inc. Answered Tuesday, July 1,2014 at 10:42 AM It's my understanding that the ISA-95 committee generated the MOM name while MESA had laid claim to the MES moniker. I think that while one camp may claim a broader reach than the other, they are both essentially dealing with the same near-real-time layer between the plant floor and the company's business system such as is addressed by ISA-95. I think if someone is searching for a company with those skills, then MES and MOM are close enough to be considered the same. To separate them at that level introduces confusion. My two cents.
